Role and type of Divider Walls

A divider wall is simply a perfect way to create a multipurpose space. I t can be constructed anywhere to achieve number of goals like for simply dividing a space, creating some privacy from passerby, hide mess, drive to footfalls or just for decoration. It’s a quickest way to transform a room interior with little bit changes.

There are many materials that are available in market. Partition walls are designed as non-load bearing walls. It may be collapsible, foldable, or fixed. Various types of partition walls are-

  • Glass Divider: This is one of the most common types of partition walls in commercial centers. It can be designed either by glass sheets or glass blocks. Easy to construct and lightweight.
  • Wooden Divider: It is easy to construct a wooden partition wall but you cannot get long term benefits. Wood is vulnerable to pests, insects, and moisture. Apart from that, it is not fireproof or soundproof.
  • Metal Divider: Metal partition walls need plaster to join from both sides. They can be constructed using vertical channels known as studs. The metal partition wall is thin and long-lasting. It is also fireproof and strong enough to handle extreme force or pressure.
  • Acrylic Divider Wall: It can come in different shapes, sizes, and designs. These dividers can separate dining space from a drawing room or study room or bedroom. You can also install these partition walls in bars, restaurants, and cafes.
  • Clay Block Divider: The partition wall blocks are manufactured from clay or terracotta and the blocks may be hollow or solid. The hollow clay blocks are commonly employed for light partition wall. Hollow clay block partition walls are rigid, economical, strong, fire-resistant, and good heat and sound insulators.
  • Metal Lath Partition: A metal lath partition wall is strong, thin, durable, and considerably fire-resistant. When there is a need for a hollow partition, metal lath is fixed to the channels on both the sides and then plaster is applied.
  • Wooden or Timber Partitions: A timber partition wall that consists of a wooden framework which is either supported on the floor below or by the sidewalls. The framework of a timber partition wall consists of a rigid arrangement of timber which may be covered with boarding on both sides.
  • Plywood and Fiberboard Partition Wall: Plywood can also be used for making partitions. It is available in 4 feet wide and 5 to 8 feet long sheets that are 1/4 to 3/4 inch thick. It is usually placed vertically from the floor to the ceiling.
  • Drywall Partition: Drywall, also known as gypsum board or plasterboard is a panel made of gypsum plaster pressed between two thick sheets of paper. Drywalls are majorly used to make interior walls and partitions. Drywall partition system has replaced lath and plaster today because it is quick to work with.
  • Planters Divider Wall: Putting planters is one of the modern divider walls for homes, restaurants, and bars. They can throw an amazing and natural look in any lace. Apart from that, you can also choose different types of plants to beautify your rooms.
