Enhance Your Home Design Open Floor Plan with These Ideas

Open floor plan is a part of architecture since quite a long time known as “in” and “out” trend. The concept has evolved which is trendy and can be made beautiful if done right and in the right space.

The open floor plan adds up many values to our designs. It enhances the feel of space, efficiency of living space and helps social interaction. Here are some tips to enhance your space:

  • Take benefit if symmetry: One easy way is to create symmetrical look with big furniture pieces. Doubling up sofas and complementing the look with huge dining table with appropriate chairs. Having a neutral palette and natural materials will also help keep a large room light and bright.
  • Coordinate with apt colors: Pick colors in more purposeful way. Then choose two or three accent colors, and add a touch of them to each individual area in the the form of fabrics, rugs and accessories

The accent colors will help divide the room, while the overall, more neutral palette will lend the open area a sense of cohesion. And don’t be afraid to go bold! Large open spaces without enough color can read as bland or empty.

  • Define your space: A rug is great way to divide open space. It defines the functionality of the space. They give the cozy feel in open spaces as well and guide foot traffic. It you don’t go for apt rug you will be looking at open cold space. Rugs work because they provide subtle boundaries without compromising the visual airspace.
  • Light it right: The right lighting goes a long way in dividing the open space into workable space.  A pendant or chandelier over the dining table also helps to define that space in a vertical sense.

Wall sconces or floor lamps are necessary in the living room, and a table lamp on side tables will illuminate those areas distinctly. And perhaps most importantly, install recessed lighting both as an ambient source and to guide the flow of the room.

  • Add a console: If you want to divide your space without interrupting the light of space add a console or shelves. Open shelving is great way to organize your clutter of the space. You’ll find that even in a small home, open house plans can make the space feel large, especially when it comes to in-kitchen dining.
