15 Minutes City Design As Covid Recovery
The pandemic is hitting the people across world and its economy. Density and interactions which is the foundation of the urban planning needs to readdressed now.
It totally depends on us urban planners on how we engage people within cities. As the work of Jane Jacobs says that neighborhood isn’t just about building but social networks too.
‘15-Minutes City’ concept is what we need to seek now. A concept where everything you need is within 15-minutes radius on foot or bike. It will benefit not only society but the environment as well lowering Co2 emission and cleaner air.
A place where more of the local spaces are not only engaged in parking lots but more into greener area. Boosting more recreational spaces and engaging more people to nurture their local pride.
Paris is one of the cities working on this concept. Melbourne is testing 20 minutes neighborhood.
‘Hyper-local mode’ is the key solution for our city to regrow in sustainable manner in post pandemic era.
