Windows and Its Treatments
Windows act as lungs of building. So, if we want that our building should breathe properly its treatments is as important as designing. So, while designing windows like privacy issues must be considered like serenity, the quality of light required and scale and proportion is above all most important.
Design and Décor: Window itself act as décor and ornament for any building. Quality of light that we want to achieve is also important factor. All kinds of window covering modify the light in some way. Translucent sheers soften and diffuse the light. Slated blinds create interesting pattern of lights and shades.
Proportion: Very small window looks best with simple shades and blinds. Very large window is expensive to cover with windows. Different windows need different proportion to achieve aesthetic designs. Wide windows can be visually led by several pair of curtains. As by that it will appear as several smaller ones. Also pairing it with blinds can add up the play to it.
Tall windows: Curtains can be extended beyond width of window. So that its perceived width strikes a blame with its height.
Small windows: Always use light weight fabrics and low-key headings. A layered look will create fussy look in these kinds of windows.
Fabrics: It will actually govern the feel of the windows. It acts as important element in adding texture, pattern to decorative scheme. If bold color is used it will give bold statement in the room. If light color is chosen will harmonize with other elements. Dark heavy fabrics always give cozy feel and intimate.
Accessories: There are many small things that can add up to features of windows. Accessories provide opportunity sometimes to make a striking contrast with color and pattern. In other case it can accentuate the following lines of drapery. The plainer the curtain the more attraction accessory will get like cornices, trimmings, tie backs.
To make building healthier lungs is important. So size, proportion, scale and treatments all are something important to be think upon. Make every building breathe!
